2. What data we collect
Account data
- Email address and display name (for registered users).
- An anonymous guest session ID if you choose "Continue as Guest".
Food inventory data
- Product names, expiry dates, quantities, and categories.
- Photos of product labels you choose to scan or attach.
Device data
- Push notification token — only if you grant notification permission.
- Subscription status (tier and expiry date), synced from the Apple App Store.
3. How we use it
- To run the app: store your shelf, send the expiry reminders you configure, and generate AI recipe suggestions.
- AI suggestions are generated server-side using your expiring items as context via Google Gemini. No data is retained by the AI provider beyond the request.
- We never sell your personal data.
4. Third-party services
- Supabase — database and authentication, hosted on EU infrastructure.
- Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In — optional login methods.
- Google Gemini API — AI recipe generation.
- Apple App Store — subscription billing. Apple's privacy policy applies to payments.
5. Camera access
The camera is used only to scan product labels and expiry dates. Photos are uploaded only as an inventory thumbnail and are never shared with anyone outside the Spaces you belong to.
6. Push notifications
We only send notifications for the expiry reminders you configure. You can disable them at any time in iOS Settings.
7. Shared Spaces
When you invite someone to a Space, they can see the inventory of that Space. Your data is visible to other members of any Space you belong to.
8. Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your data and any Spaces you own.
9. Your rights
- Export your inventory as CSV at any time from inside the app.
- Delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
10. Children
WasteStop is not directed at children under 13.
11. Changes
We'll update the "last updated" date above if this policy changes materially. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated version.
