1. Agreement

By using MI8OS you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. MI8OS is published by A. Karapanos, a sole proprietor trading as AxosApps, in Muri AG, Switzerland (contact: support@axosapps.com).

2. What MI8OS is

MI8OS is an offline encrypted vault for short text secrets. Your vault is encrypted on your iPhone and written to MIFARE DESFire EV3 cards that you keep. There is no account, no backend, no cloud backup and no sync.

A compatible card is required. Without one there is nothing to unlock and nothing to show — every screen in the app begins with an NFC tap. This is how the product works, not a paywall or a defect.

3. Your responsibilities

Choosing a strong password and remembering it. A long passphrase is strongly encouraged; the app requires at least 12 characters.
Keeping your cards physically safe, and keeping more than one as a backup.
Keeping your iPhone's passcode and biometric enrolment trustworthy. MI8OS cannot protect a vault opened on a device someone else controls.

4. No recovery

Losing every card, or forgetting your password, permanently ends that vault. Axos Apps holds no escrow, no master key and no copy of your data, and therefore cannot recover, reset or unlock anything for you. Nobody can. Treat this as the central trade-off of the product.

5. Cards and purchases

The MI8OS app itself contains no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
Physical MI8OS cards, where sold, are a separate purchase with their own sale, shipping and refund terms at the point of sale.
Any refund for an App Store purchase is handled by Apple through your purchase history. Axos Apps does not issue App Store refunds directly.

6. Acceptable use

You may not reverse-engineer the app except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits, interfere with its cryptography or card handling, or use MI8OS for any unlawful purpose. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your own country regarding the use of encryption software.

7. Security scope

MI8OS provides confidentiality and tamper detection for vault data written to a card, and availability through your own multiple cards. It does not defend against a fully compromised operating system, and card ciphertext in an attacker's hands may be copied, deleted or withheld from you. Clipboard clearing is best-effort: iOS owns the pasteboard, and other software active during the 30-second window may be able to read it subject to platform policy.

8. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. No cryptographic system is a guarantee against every adversary, and you use MI8OS on that understanding.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axos Apps is not liable for loss of data, loss of access to secrets, damaged or lost cards, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death, personal injury, fraud or gross negligence, and consumer rights granted by the law of your country are unaffected.

10. Changes to the app and these terms

We may change or discontinue features, and may update these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms; the "last updated" date at the top tells you when they last changed.

11. Privacy

MI8OS collects no data. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Place of jurisdiction is Muri AG, Switzerland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
